Got an hour cycle home now and the heavens look like they’re about to open, but I’m feeling REALLY faint and I don’t wanna pass out on the road…

Know that I am not the defender of the people. Never have I pretended to this resounding title. I am of the people. I have never been anything else. I want to be nothing else. I despise anyone who pretends to be anything else. — Maximilien Robespierre in his speech of January 11, 1791 (via crookedsin)
2013 was one of the best years of my life because I spent it living with Hannah.
Then the past year in Paris was okay because I got to interact with my students every week day and explore Paris on my weekends.
Since I came back home for summer I have no Hannah with me, no students or work colleagues to chat with, my friends don’t really seem to hang out much any more, and I’m just here stagnating on my own.

The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, i.e., the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being. — Karl Marx - Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts 1844 (via nakazn)
